Micrographia, or, Some Physiological Descriptions of Minute Bodies Made by Magnifying Glasses by Robert Hooke (1635-1703) contains the discoveries that Hooke made with his newly perfected compound microscope. Micrographia was not only the first book devoted entirely to microscopic observations, but also the first to pair its descriptions with profuse and detailed illustrations
Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) copy bound in modern calfskin double-panelled in blind. The bookplate of the BPL Townshend Fund is present on the front pastedown. Early marginalia is present on numerous leaves, including: O3 (verso), S1 (recto), S1 (verso), 2C3 (recto), 2E1 (verso), 2E3 (recto), and 2F3 (recto). The perforation stamp of the Library is present on the title page and all plates are marked with the ink stamp of the same
